THE WORD IS AUTHORITY!
It says in the Word that Jesus in us is our hope of glory: “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” Colossians 1:27. And in the gospel of John 1 it says that ‘He is the Word.’: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1.
As such when we are filled with the Spirit of God, that is, we have been born-again: “Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born-again’ “ John 3:7, then when we speak, our words should be spoken from our spirit with good authority and inspiration that comes from God! For the Scriptures we have studied are inspired and with authority from God! “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness…” 2 Timothy 3:16.
Erickson talks about the power of God’s Word as authority 1: “As Creator and Source of all truth, God has the right to command belief and obedience from all human beings…One way He accomplish this is through other human beings. God communicates His message to human beings. He has the right to command human actions and speech. When appropriate interpretation, this occurs through the Bible…rightly understood, the Holy Spirit illuminates, convicts, and applies the teaching of the Bible to both the human understanding and the heart.”
As we walk in our journey we should learn to discern the Spirit and this authority! We are not to fear the attacks from the world as the Word is “ the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.” Romans 6:17. And we should remember that Jesus, being the Word, as He walked on earth in the flesh, was faced with much persecutions! ( Read the gospels!). So we should be led by the Spirit in every step of our journey! We should listen to His prodding! “ Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path!” Psalm 119:105.
