PRAYERS

Praying is one of the hardest things to do for most of us, specially in the first few years of our journey with Christ; but it is the simplest way of approaching God! It is all about asking the Lord, from a sincere heart that is submitted to Him, for our physical, emotional, spiritual, relational needs! We see Jesus saying in Matthew 7:7: “Ask, and it will be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened to you So we see here He is eager to answer our petitions and needs!

The Psalms in the Old Testament are some kinds of prayers, for whatever state of mind we find ourselves in! Most of them were written by King David in his emotional, spiritual struggles and we can put ourselves in the place of King David and pray them out by speaking them out from our heart to the Lord Jesus Christ. Also, when we don’t know how to pray with the understanding, we are given by the Holy Spirit the gift of praying in tongues. We can pray for ourselves and for others with this type of prayer!

Also in Luke 11:2-4 we see what we call the Lord’s prayer as a way Jesus taught His disciples when they asked Him to teach them to pray. It shows the simplicity of asking, such as for our resources, for forgiveness, for deliverance! And so all prayer should always be asking Him from a simple heart that is expectant for His answers!

In Ephesians 1:15-23 we see a prayer by the Apostle Paul for the believers, that we can pray for those believers today in the church. It goes like this: “ I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,….”. This is a type of prayer for those in faith in the Lord Jesus already , who love other believers in the church.
