AN UNTAMABLE TONGUE

The Word says in James 3:5 the following: “Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things.” It goes on to say that the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. That no man can tame the tongue! That it is an unruly evil, poisonous. “ With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men!” James 3:9 In other words we can bless or curse with it.

But we shouldn’t take it into our hands to avenge ourselves when others have evil intents with their tongues toward us. As it says in the Word: “Vengeance is Mine! I will repay, says the Lord!” Deuteronomy 3:35 in the Old Testament; Romans 12:19 in the New Testament. The Lord will avenge us from evil minded people who don’t have the best intentions toward us!

So we shouldn’t take it into our hands to payback! We need to pray to the Lord Jesus Our God to hear our cry and our need and tell Him to take care of us when we are oppressed in such a way! And as believers we should all watch our hearts and then our tongues! “Search my heart O God, try me and know my anxieties” Psalm 139:23. We should always strife that our hearts bear the fruit of the Spirit which are “ love, joy, peace, gentleness, kindness, goodness, patience, faithfulness, self-control.” Galatians 5:22.
