The body element, which besides aging and decaying, suffers at times from sicknesses. Jesus in His public ministry on earth became popular for His miracles of healings! He healed the lepers, the blind men, the woman with the issue of blood, those that were demon-possessed, those that were on their death-bed, and many more. So bodies were recreated to health by the power emanating through the ministry of Jesus Christ! Jesus said in John 14:12, speaking to disciples through all generations: “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in Me will also do the works that I do, and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.” So many believers, who walk by the power of the Holy Spirit, can lay hands or pray for sick people and see miraculous healings take place! Even today, recreation of the sick body parts takes place amongst some people, as Christians pray in the name of Jesus! There is some ministries who are anointed for the sole purpose of bringing healing to the masses! And amongst the various ministries where signs and wonders, such as healings, take place, they should always remember to give all the glory to God, as the anointing comes through the Holy Spirit, in the name of Jesus so that the Father may be glorified!
Of course, I believe that a human is a unit of body, soul and spirit. While on this earth, one cannot live without the other; even those that never had a born –again experience still have a spirit, it just is not in communion with God! I am in agreement in that human nature is a conditional unity, a concept mentioned in Erickson’s book, and that for example when there is a psychosomatic condition in a person, it usually is because body, soul and spirit are not in equilibrium and “their spiritual condition cannot be dealt with independently of their physical and psychological condition, and vice versa.” Psychotropic medicine is proper just as well as ministry to the soul and spirit. I agree completely with the following: “Any attempt to deal with people’s spiritual condition apart from their physical condition and mental and emotional state will be only partially successful, as will any attempt to deal with human emotions apart from people’s relationship to God(the spiritual aspect).”3
