MAN IS MADE IN THE IMAGE OF GOD, PART 1.
The theme of the following few blogs is about Jesus Christ and Salvation. I stand with the Scriptures in what they say that man is made in the image of God. I believe that just like man with soul and spirit, God has a soul and Spirit. As for the man having a physical body, I believe that God is embodied by matter where He can be seen whenever He wishes and He can be invisible just as well, even though it is spiritual in nature. I believe that with this somewhat like- matter, man will be embodied when he goes to eternity! Of course, man is limited in his nature compared to God. I agree with the importance of the doctrine of humanity, because it shows that a human is the highest creature created by God and it shows some of His work on the universe and, of course, of God Himself, because learning takes place about His nature and of Him as the Creator when seeing what He has created! And of course, when seeing the Person of Jesus as He reveals Himself to man, after he has a born-again experience, man can learn a lot about God and of His awesomeness and how man is just a mere creature of His!
The New Dictionary of Theology says that “the view of the so-called Anthopomorphites (or Audiani, 4th century) is that man is physically the image of God, who is also, therefore, physically embodied.” The authors seem in disagreement with this view, saying that God is invisible, therefore immaterial.1 I somewhat agree with both and differ with both. I believe God is materially embodied similar to a human but the big difference is that the matter embodying God can make Him both visible and invisible, it never decays, it is eternal , immortal; He can choose to appear Himself to people in this side of heaven if He wishes but most humans have never seen His Person! He is immaterial in the sense that His matter is from another dimension, the heavenly type.
