SETTING THE CAPTIVES FREE, PART IV.

According to Dr. Coulters’ Lecture 5 notes,1 there is a five-step prayer model to minister healing to a person, That there are certain key factors such as the environment ( if it is in a conference, a small prayer group, Sunday morning prayer, emotional healing prayer team, pastoral or lay counseling); time available; your relationship with the person; Gods timing and follow-up capabilities. All this is important when praying for people. The following are the 5 Steps:

1. Interviewing: listening naturally and supernaturally; have person summarize needs,
problems or questions as led by Holy Spirit who is the Counselor and Comforter.

2. Choosing a prayer strategy: questions to ask such as what is the Holy Spirit doing in the person’s life at this time? What kind of prayer is. needed? Physical healing?
Emotional healing? Deliverance?

3. Praying for specific results: is the minister praying for comfort, emotional healing, deliverance, physical healing?

4. Assessing the results: be open to what the Spirit is doing and cooperate. What is
The Father doing? Ask questions such as:’ Is the Lord saying anything to you right now?’

5. Giving Post-Prayer Direction: summarize what has been learned to the person; share what the Spirit has revealed, Give parting instructions.

This prayer model can be used in whatever setting and issue is being prayed for, in this case in this class, deliverance. It gives a place to begin and track with the Spirit. it helps ministers in how to cooperate with the Spirit, with His gifts so that we may minister wholly. The Spirit is there to bring freedom.

Hayward, in Chapter 11,_ gives some suggestions for building a ministry team!
First, the church should conduct a Cleansing Stream Seminar. twice a year in an ongoing manner, where the participants receive deliverance.
Second, those that have been through the Seminar and Regional Retreat a couple of times, are eligible for the Cleansing Stream Discipleship Seminar, which prepares now participant to minister.
Third, the pastor selects those whom he or she feels are qualified to be trained and are placed On prayer teams, each of which has a leader-and maybe a co-leader.
Fourth, the pastor Selects 10% of those going through Seminar for discipleship training each season.

The prayer team commitment is for two years. It meets a minimum of two times per month. Once to watch the teaching or training video. Once to pray for each other or for church member released by pastor. Additionally, the team members commit to minister at several regional retreats.
