PASSOVER:THE LORD GOD IS HIS PEOPLE’S DELIVERER!

Moses became the foreshadow of what Jesus would do at the cross! As he was sent by God to Pharaoh to free the Israelites. In the time of Moses, the people of God were suffering great bondage for over 400 years as slaves. The Lord told Moses who became the Jew’s leader, to tell His people to kill a lamb and with its blood taint the outside door at the top and sides and then at midnight He would kill the first born child of those that hadn’t blood- tainted their doors. He passed-over those with blood stain on their door and spared their first born, delivering them from slavery!

This was the tenth sign the Lord had done in the sight of Pharaoh in order to let the people go! At this sign the Pharaoh finally gave in! The feast of Passover commemorates this event, and it was commemorated by Jesus with His disciples just before His crucifixion! Jesus became our unblemished Passover Lamb for all times, who shed blood at the cross, in order to deliver the people from the bondage of darkness and sin into the Light! “Yeshua’s shed blood brings redemption from sin and entrance into the Promised Land of eternal life.” 1 (208)

In the gospels, Matthew 26:26-28, it says: “ And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, ‘Take, eat, this is My body.’ (In other words it was going to be broken for us). ‘Then He took the cup, and gave thanks and gave it to them, saying, ‘Drink from it, all of you. For this is My blood of the New Covenant which is shed for many for the remission of sins.’ (In other words, by shedding His blood He would atone for our sins for always in order to bring redemption, deliverance, forgiveness of sins.)”

We also see that everyone of His people needed to kill the lamb in order to stain the door. So this is symbolic of Jesus( the unblemished Lamb) laying down His life for each of us individually who believe in Him. “ It was our sin—everybody’s, that required the unblemished Lamb (Jesus) to die! …Just as each Israelite had to be covered by the blood, so do we as believers in Yeshua.” 2 . That’s what we do when we ask Jesus into our lives as Lord and Savior. Each of us has to do it. “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9
