CONTINUING WITH FAITH: IS IT BELIEVING?

Believing is important and necessary in order to become a friend of God! “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness—and he was called a friend of God.” James 2:23. It is necessary to believe in order to live life to its maximum in this world and beyond this universe! As such, we will have life and life more abundantly. “ I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” John 10:10 . Of course, all within the bounds of the reality of God!

Of course, the first step is believing that Jesus came, died and rose again in order to save us! This is right believing and if we believe that God is Good and is love : “…because God is love.” 1 John 4:8, then we will be used as vessels of good and not of evil. “Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver but also of wood and clay, some for honorable use, some for dishonorable.” 2 Timothy 2:20. The reason why we should always ask the Lord to use us as vessels of goodness!

According to theologian Millard J Erickson, in what concerns salvation and the walk after that, “ the evangelical position holds that salvation is a total change in an individual that progresses through sanctification toward glorification.” So there is a point where we take the step of faith, that is, believing, which comes as a gift from the Spirit, to say yes to Jesus by just saying, ‘Jesus, come into my life and be my Lord and Savior.’ This is where conversion takes place! So there is a transformation that takes place and it continues through our walk with the Lord, as we hear the Word, as we believe according to the will of God, we can achieve all the possibilities God has for us!

Scripture also says “ So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the Word of Christ.” Romans 10:17. So there is where it grows, as we feast on His Word where it is illuminated by the Holy Spirit and we will be transformed into the image of Christ! Also in Hebrews 11:1 it says “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” In my initial walk, I would hear this Scripture a lot and not quite understand it! But basically it is saying that anything is possible when we believe. Of course it should be based on the Word!

FAITH, HOPE AND LOVE
“So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three:
But the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13.
