EMOTIONAL HEALING: PART III.
In ministering emotional healing to other people , I was taught basically that the Holy Spirit should be the Authority while the ministers should walk alongside, prodding with words that come from the Spirit. In interviewing the person, we are to invite the person with words such as ‘What do you want prayed for?’, ‘What hurts?’, etc. And then ask the Holy Spirit to come alongside where we have ‘one ear to the person and one ear to God.’ Then ask the Holy Spirit for His gifts which can come by pictures, impressions, concepts. This then should lead us to use prayers such as those of petitioning, interceding or deliverance( where you cast out demons). Wardle talks about the relationship between inner healing and spiritual warfare.1 He says there can be extremes: where someone denies completely the existence of demons and others see demons everywhere and deny the need of psychosomatic medicine at times due to biological malfunctions! So that there needs to be balance!
In learning about emotional healing, I saw how the Holy Spirit brought to memory situations that needed repentance and forgiveness and so bringing closure on those issues. So we can use the techniques of the prayers presented by Wardle 2 to minister to those that we come in contact with who need emotional healing. And we are to try to empathize with those we will minister to, following the words” “Weep with those who weep.” Romans 12:15. And we are to walk alongside the Holy Spirit who is the Authority. I have seen the Holy Spirit give me impressions, pictures and concepts when thinking about certain people, and am more sure it is the Holy Spirit. So we can feel better equipped for future reference in ministering emotional healing to the wounded.
