GOD’S PLANS!

God has a definite plan for history! This is supported in both the Old Testament and the New Testament. Erickson says1 “where is history going, and why ? What, if anything is causing the pattern of history to develop as it is? These questions confront us as thinking persons and crucially affect our way of life. Christianity’s answer is that God has a plan which includes everything that occurs, and that He is now at work carrying out that plan.”

In the Old Testament we see that God has had a plan for the redemption of Man as He knew sin would enter the earth through the Fall of Man. We see this clearly in Genesis 3:15 where the Seed( Jesus Christ, God in the flesh) would destroy the serpent’s power (Satan) : they would always be in enmity and then redemption would come about when Jesus Christ would shed His blood at the Cross for the forgiveness of sins of those who believe in Him!

This would be God’s plan for Israel in the Old Testament and then in the New Testament where we see the rest of the nations able to be grafted into the Seed if they only believe! “Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made.” Galatians 3:16. Presently, as since the inception of the church over 2000 years ago, the global plans of God are to make all nations come to their knees at Jesus Christ feet, in order to receive salvation and so eternal life, and when all peoples know Him then He’ll come back in order to reign for 1000 years where ‘every knee shall bow, and every tongue confess, that Jesus Christ is Lord!’ “And they lived and reigned with Christ for 1000 years.” Revelations 20:4.

We personally must present our plans for our lives before the Lord and let Him be the One that decides if they are right or not and let Him plan out our life His way! And also nationally, politicians should plan out our nation’s path but ultimately it is the Lord God that plans what He wants for each nation of the world! “ Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path!” Psalms 119: 105.

Most of us have high ambitions for our future such as where we will go to college, then find a fine job, get married, have children and make a lot of money! But a lot of times we get frustrated when that doesn’t work out and God tells us He has other plans, if we listen! In the long run we see that His plans are the best! What the world offers can’t outdo what God offers! It is what we do for God! “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11.
