INSPIRATION OF GOD THRU THE PRESERVED SCRIPTURES!
According to Erickson1 “One of the topics that is hotly debated today is the degree to which Scripture is inspired by God. Inspiration is necessary because it confirms the nature of God’s special revelation through Scripture.” All the Word is inspired by the Holy Spirit! As it says in 2 Timothy 3:16 “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
Moses, a prophet wrote the first five books of the Old Testament, all inspired by the Holy Spirit; the books of prophets were written by the named prophets in each book, all inspired by the Holy Spirit; Disciples and apostles wrote the gospels and epistles , also all inspired by the Holy Spirit. They were all very educated men: Moses was an educated man under the best of Egypt’s’ Pharaoh’s courts; Daniel, a prophet, was also a very educated man as seen in Daniel 1: 4-6; the apostle Paul was also a very educated man!
But their intellect was given by God. Their writings of the Word was done using intelligence, illuminated and inspired by the Holy Spirit. “ Knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.” 2 Peter 1: 20-21.
As we saw in the last previous blogs, the sacred historical writings testify to their veracity in that they have remained unchanged through the years. We can be sure of that through time. Not so with secular history. One way we have seen the sacred history’s veracity shown, is with the findings of the Dead Sea Scrolls found in the late 1940s to early 1950s. Since they were written a little over 1000s years before they had been written in the Old Testament book. Comparing each other, there were no discrepancies.
By the fact that they were inspired by the Holy Spirit to holy men of God, we can still see their veracity as our spirits become stirred by the Holy Spirit, and as we are transformed by their teachings! So the preservation of the inspired Word of God throughout time is verifiable even today!
