MEANS BY WHICH GOD HAS GIVEN US SPECIAL REVELATION OF HIMSELF!

According to Erickson1 “God has taken the initiative to make Himself known to us in a more complete way than general revelation, and has done so in a fashion appropriate to our understanding…because this revelation includes both the personal presence of God and informational truth we are able to identify God, understand something about Him, and point others to Him!”

One of the ways He has been personal to us, is through mighty events recorded in the Old Testament such as parting of the Red Sea delivering Israel from the hand of Herod, after they had been slaves over 400 years .A second way recorded in the Old Testament is through divine speech where He speaks directly to His prophets and then they pass it on to the people! An example is where He appears to Moses at the burning bush and tells him ‘I AM WHO I AM’ (Exodus 3:14) and then he goes to the people and tells them the Lord will deliver them from the hand of Herod . He had to show them 10 signs in order that they believe He had sent him!

Another example, recorded also in the Old Testament is where he sends prophets called by Him and where they world start with ‘The Word of the Lord came to me..’ as for example in Jeremiah 18:5, Ezekiel 12:1, to name a few! In the New Testament, an example recorded in John 12:28 is: “Father, glorify Your name. Then a voice came from heaven, saying, ‘I have both glorified it and will glorify it again.’ ( This being the voice of the Father).

A third way He has been personal , recorded in the New Testament, is His appearance in the flesh! That’s His incarnation. He spoke His teachings. He spoke of His deity. We see in the gospels and the epistles that He was crucified, died and rose again on the third day, having many witnesses. This bespeaks of His deity!

After His death, and throughout Christian history, there has been a last way by which we have a personal revelation of God! That’s by believing in Him, what He did at the cross, shedding blood and rising again; we become reconciled to Him! We have a born again experience and our spirit testifies to the historical written Word! John 3:7. We know that God is real, that He is alive!
HE IS THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE. NO ONE COMES TO THE FATHER EXCEPT THROUGH HIM! John 14:6.
