NOAH PROFILE: NOAH AND THE FLOOD?

“Then the Lord said to Noah, ‘Go into the ark, you and all your household. For I have seen that you are righteous before Me in this generation…I will send rain on the earth forty days and forty nights…” Genesis 7:1,4.

There are various opinions about the flood: some say it is just a myth; others, that the whole earth was flooded and everyone died except for Noah, his household and animals, in the Ark! According to Ross1 scientists/theologians teach that from our point of reference we make many inferences. So that from Noah’s point of reference, as he looked out of the Ark, the whole ‘world’ to him was flooded as it now had rained for forty days and nights.( Read Genesis 7:1-7). But in reality it was just that area he could observe! It was the ‘whole earth’.

This seems logical, for when Noah and his family left the ark, when the water had subsided, they continued to multiply. And there had only been Noah, his wife, their 3 sons and their wives and some animals and birds.(Read Genesis 6:10). So there must have been people on the earth that were not touched by the flooding waters! God had stopped the creation business with Adam and Eve so He was not creating anymore people!

Also, Noah was the last man who lived a long time, about 950 years.( Read Genesis 9:29). Before him men were known to live approximately this long. According to Ross2 there was an event in the galaxy, called Vela Supernovae, an explosion of a massive star, which they can date and identify scientifically, which gave out radiation about Noah’s time, the reason the age span shrunk. God had previously said that people would live 120 years at the most! ( Read Genesis 6:3 where this takes place just before Noah and the flood!). But of course, there could be other factors!

Noah is part of the genealogy of Jesus Christ ( Read Luke 3: 38)! And like Noah was given the task to save himself and his family from physical death, Jesus became our promise, for Jew and Gentile alike, to save us and deliver us from spiritual death. If we only believe in Him, we shall be saved and have eternal life!
