ALL SCRIPTURE IS BREATHED OUT BY GOD: PART 1.

If everyone went about changing the content of the Bible and its biblical doctrine, then humankind would be in bad shape as to who to believe! If everyone comes saying they are prophets and they have the true revelation of the Bible, that would be terrible! So I believe that like the councils of old who admitted the canon, then there needs to be great discernment and respectable and integral people making decisions. I do not hold to the view that the worlds then and today are so different in terms of the spiritual realities and revelations: evil is still evil, good is still good, men and women are sinners in need of salvation through the only true Savior, Jesus Christ. Of course there are new technological, scientific, cultural realities but the Word says: “For the Word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12 in New Testament).

Erickson says that in studying God, theology in a Christian context seeks to understand the God revealed in the Bible: His creation, particularly humankind and their condition and their need for a redemptive work from God. 1 I believe this study of God can be based from the Bible itself, from history, how times have changed and how God has moved, and philosophically with its ideas about the natural, the supernatural and God in each contemporary timeframe. In studying God from the Bible itself, it shows some of God’s nature and His relation to man and why the need to study the Scriptures; it is seen in the following verse: “ All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3: 16 in New Testament).
