AFTER THE RESURRECTION!
Jesus appeared to the disciples on and off for 40 days! He is seen even cooking fish to some of the disciples! “Then as soon as they had come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid on it, and bread. Jesus said to them ‘bring some of the fish which you have just caught’.” After 40 days He ascended unto Heaven where many disciples saw it happening! This is recorded in the book of Acts which was written by Luke! The Acts of the Apostles is the second of two New Testament books written by Luke. This was a letter to Luke’s friend Theophilus written sometime in 62-64 A.D. “The former account I made, O Theophilus of all that Jesus began both to do and teach.”( Acts 1:1).
After the ascencion came the falling of the Holy Sprit on the upper room, where the believers were speaking in other tongues! We see Peter taking the opportunity to proclaim the gospel, at this Pentecost, and many came to be baptized in water and the Holy Spirit. “ Then Peter said to them, ‘Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” Acts 2:38.
We see Peter becoming the advocate mainly of the Jews while Paul became the advocate mainly of the Gentiles! As Gentiles begin responding to the gospel, the focus shifts to Paul, whom we see getting saved very powerfully, and his missionary journeys. Acts forms a bridge between the four gospels and the rest of the New Testament, showing how the apostles carried on Christ’s work, providing a historical background for the books of Romans through Revelation.
