ESCHATOLOGY: STUDY OF THE LAST THINGS, PART 2.
There are a few Scriptures about the rapture and Second coming of Jesus! For example about the rapture there is 1 Thessalonians 4: 15-17 which says: “For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep ( dead). For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first (resurrection of bodies: first resurrection). Then we who are alive and remain, will be ‘caught up’ together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and thus we shall always be with the Lord.” Another Scripture is 1 Corinthians 15: 51-53 which says: “Behold , I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed—in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.”
There are also some Scriptures about the Second Coming , such as Matthew 24:4,6,7,27 which says: “Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of Your coming and of the close of the age?…And Jesus answered them, ‘And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. ..For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences and earthquakes in various places…for as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. “ Another one is in Matthew 24: 29-31 which says: “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.” And a third one is in Matthew 24: 32-34 which says: “Now learn this parable from the fig tree: when its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near–at the doors! Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place.” ( The fig tree in the Bible sometimes refers to Israel, and many theologians think that here is referring to the formation of the nation of Israel in 1948 . Also some believe that a generation is filled by 70 – 80 years as seen in Psalm 90:10).
