VIRGIN BIRTH: THE KEY ELEMENT TO CHRISTOLOGY, PART 2.
According to a previous blog paper, I write about modern scientific evidence in embryology which supports the virgin birth and Jesus’ complete deity and sinlessness: “ I believe that Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary. But I believe that she was just a human vessel who was honored by God to carry God Himself: the fertile egg was placed in her womb by the Holy Spirit. So it was completely God, fertile egg and soul, without sin to be transmitted by human DNA. From embryology, it is known that the fetus waste passes through one of the entries to the umbilical cord to mom’s and mom’s nutrients go to fetus through another entry in the umbilical cord, without blood interchange. So in Jesus’ case, Mary was just passing the necessary nutrients without blood contact! So He was completely God and sinless though He would come in human-like form.” I also wrote: ‘I believe like the Bible, in that He had a birth, and that with His life it indicated He had a physical human-like nature . He had the same physiology and physical limitations as other humans. …He had a sinless human-like body that had most of a regular person’s physical experiences and He had a divine sinless soul with a divine spirit. I believe that Jesus was fully divine including His physical body.’ ”4
One of the significances of the teaching of the Virgin Birth is that it is a reminder that salvation is supernatural! JesusChrist was not just a special human being who taught nice things, but He was God Himself who came in the flesh: “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God…and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” ( John 1: 1, 14), and so this is the reason why it is all a supernatural miracle including for all future generations who make a confession of faith and have a born-again experience! Another significance is that the virgin birth is a reminder that God’s salvation is fully a gift of grace. Mary was just a Jewish girl, who of course had great faith and dedication: “And Mary said, ‘Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to Your word.’ “(Luke 1: 38), but she really had nothing special to offer. So it was all God’s gift in choosing her to bear His Son (like the first surrogate mother!) in order that all humanity would receive His gift of salvation if they choose to!
